Romeo Lucas García was the President of Guatemala from 1978 to 1982. He was a military officer who had previously served as Minister of Defense under President Kjell Eugenio Laugerud García. Lucas García's presidency was marked by political repression and human rights abuses, including the Guatemalan Civil War. He was overthrown in a coup d'état in 1982 and replaced by Efraín Ríos Montt.
