Constantine IX, also known as Constantine Monomachos, was Zoe Porphyrogenita's third husband. He was a Byzantine nobleman and bureaucrat who became emperor in 1042 after Zoe's second husband, Michael IV, died. Constantine's reign was marked by palace intrigue and military defeats, ultimately leading to his downfall in 1055. He was succeeded by Theodora Porphyrogenita, Zoe's sister.
