Enda Kenny was a member of the Dáil Éireann for Mayo West from 1975 to 1997. He was first elected in a by-election on 26 September 1975, following the death of his father, Henry Kenny. He was re-elected at every general election from 1977 to 1997. In 1997, Kenny was elected Taoiseach and he resigned his Dáil seat.
