Answer
Solomon Berewa, the Sierra Leone People's Party candidate, was defeated by Ernest Bai Koroma of the All People's Congress (APC) in the 2007 Sierra Leone presidential runoff election. Koroma won with 54.6% of the vote, while Berewa received 45.4%. This marked the first time in Sierra Leone's history that an opposition candidate had defeated an incumbent president in a democratic election.
