St Bartholomew's Hospital is where James Earle studied medicine. He was born in 1757 and studied at the hospital from 1773 to 1778. He then went on to become a surgeon and was appointed to the staff of the hospital in 1783. He was also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and was elected President of the College in 1828. He died in 1838.
