Predominantly located in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island, Ngāi Tahu is the largest iwi (tribe) in the country. Their ancestral lands span from Banks Peninsula and Kaikōura in the east to Fiordland and Stewart Island in the west, reaching as far south as the Subantarctic Islands.
