Félix Tshisekedi became president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in January 2019. At the time, the FCC (Coalition for Change) controlled the parliament. The FCC is a coalition of opposition parties that was formed in 2018. It was led by Tshisekedi's party, the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS). The FCC won a majority of seats in the parliamentary elections held in 2018.
