The 450 Danish Jews were released from Theresienstadt camp on 14 April 1945. They were the only Jews in Europe to be released from a concentration camp before the end of World War II. The Jews were released as a result of the efforts of Danish diplomat Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz, who had been working to negotiate their release since December 1943.
