Frederick II was a Holy Roman Emperor and King of Sicily. In 1228, he launched the Sixth Crusade, which was successful in retaking Jerusalem from the Ayyubids. As a result of his success, Frederick II styled himself as King of Jerusalem, although he was not crowned by the Patriarch of Jerusalem.
