Georg Friedrich Karl Freiherr von Hertling was a German politician who served as Chancellor of Germany from 1917 to 1918. He was a member of the Catholic Centre Party and was appointed chancellor by Kaiser Wilhelm II in an attempt to bring stability to the country during World War I. Hertling's government was unable to end the war and he resigned in October 1918.
