A Major Archbishop is the head of a Major Archiepiscopal Church, an autonomous Eastern Catholic Church that is in full communion with the Pope. Major Archbishops are appointed by the Pope and have the same rank as Patriarchs. They are responsible for the governance of their church and for representing it to the Holy See and to other churches.
