Answer
Lord Rockingham replaced Grenville as Prime Minister after Grenville resigned in 1765. Rockingham was a Whig who opposed the Stamp Act and other taxes imposed on the colonies by the British government. He was also a strong supporter of the American colonies and believed that they should be granted more autonomy. However, Rockingham's government was short-lived and he died in office in 1768.
