George Mouzalon was a Byzantine general and politician who rose to prominence in the 12th century. He was a childhood friend of Theodore II Laskaris, who became emperor of Nicaea in 1204. Mouzalon served as Laskaris' chief minister from 1204 to 1211, and he was instrumental in the recovery of Byzantine territory from the Latins. He was eventually executed by Laskaris in 1211.
