George Hoyt Whipple was an American pathologist, hematologist, and surgeon. He is best known for his work in discovering the importance of liver extract in the treatment of pernicious anemia, for which he shared the 1934 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with George Minot and William Parry Murphy.
