The Hardy–Weinberg principle states that, in the absence of mutation, migration, selection and genetic drift, allele frequencies in a population will remain constant from generation to generation. It is named after Godfrey Harold Hardy and Wilhelm Weinberg, who independently developed Theory in 1908 and 1909, respectively.
