Johannes Picus de Mirandula is the Latin name for Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, an Italian Renaissance philosopher and humanist who was born in 1463. He is best known for his work, "On the Dignity of Man", in which he argues that humans are free to choose their own destiny and that they are capable of achieving great things.
