Gustaf VI Adolf was king of Sweden from 1950 until his death in 1973. He was the son of King Gustav V and Queen Victoria, and the grandson of King Oscar II. Gustaf VI Adolf was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on 28 April 1882. He was educated at the Royal Military Academy in Stockholm, and served in the Swedish Army from 1902 to 1919.
