Fish served one term as U.S. Senator. He was elected in 1978 and served until 1985. During his time in the Senate, Fish was a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. He was also a strong supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment and the Voting Rights Act.
