Henry III (1017-1056) was the Holy Roman Emperor from 1046 to his death. He was the eldest son of Emperor Conrad II and Gisela of Swabia. He was crowned King of Italy in 1044 and became Holy Roman Emperor in 1046. Henry III was a strong and capable ruler who expanded the Holy Roman Empire and strengthened its power.
