Heavenly King was the title taken by Hong Xiuquan, the leader of the Taiping Rebellion in China. The Taiping Rebellion was a major uprising against the Qing dynasty that lasted from 1850 to 1864. Xiuquan established the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, a theocratic state based on his own syncretic religious beliefs, and declared himself its Heavenly King.
