Tutankhamun's tomb contained three coffins, each nested within the other. The outermost coffin was made of gilded wood and depicted scenes from the king's life and afterlife. The middle coffin was made of solid gold and weighed over 200 pounds. The innermost coffin was also made of gold and contained the king's mummy.
