Ivan Bagramyan served as the deputy of the Supreme Soviets of the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic from 1958 to 1966. He was also a Soviet Army general and military commander who fought in World War II and the Soviet–Afghan War. Bagramyan was born in Georgia in 1897 and joined the Red Army in 1918. He fought in the Russian Civil War and the Soviet–Polish War.
