Jan Karski was a Polish soldier, resistance-fighter, and diplomat who was instrumental in exposing the atrocities of the Holocaust to the Allies during World War II. He was born in Łódź, Poland, in 1914 and grew up in a Jewish family. In 1936, he joined the Polish army and fought in the Polish-Soviet War.
