Answer
When Krishnamurti was 14 years old, he was chosen by Theosophical Society to be the new World Teacher. Theosophical leaders believed that he was the reincarnation of the Buddha, and they hoped that he would lead the world to a new era of peace and understanding. Krishnamurti rejected this role, however, and instead devoted his life to spiritual exploration and teaching.
