John Scotus Erigena was an Irish philosopher and theologian, and the most notable philosopher of the Carolingian Renaissance. He was a Christian Neoplatonist, and is best known for his work De Divisione Naturae, in which he argued that God is the One, and all that exists is a manifestation of God's being.
