John Cabot’s voyage in 1497 was not his only voyage to North America. He made another voyage in 1498 and may have made other voyages later in life. His 1497 voyage was significant because it was the first European voyage to North America since the Norse explorations in the 10th and 11th centuries. Cabot’s voyage also helped to establish England’s claim to North America.
