Thomas Jefferson referred to John Dickinson as one of the great worthies of the revolution because of his important role in the Continental Congress and the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. Dickinson was a delegate to the Continental Congress from Pennsylvania and was one of the main authors of the Declaration of Independence. He was also a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation.
