Paintsil joined Maccabi Tel Aviv after leaving Liberty Professionals in 2003. He played for the Israeli club for four seasons, scoring 26 goals in 109 appearances. He helped Maccabi win the Israeli Premier League in 2004 and 2005, and the Israeli Cup in 2005 and 2006.
