Booth had shot and killed President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. on April 14, 1865. Booth and his accomplices fled the city, but were eventually cornered in the barn by Union soldiers. Booth was shot and killed by a soldier named Boston Corbett.
