Answer
Pope John XIX's stance towards the Eastern Churches was antagonistic. He was one of the main proponents of the Filioque clause, which stated that the Holy Spirit proceeded from the Father and the Son. This caused a major rift between the Eastern and Western Churches, and ultimately led to the Great Schism of 1054.
