Dian Fossey was a part of the Trimates, a group of three female gorillas that she studied extensively in the Virunga Mountains of Rwanda. The Trimates consisted of Digit, a dominant female; Flo, a submissive female; and Poppy, a young female. Fossey's research focused on the behavior and social structure of gorillas, and she made significant contributions to our understanding of these animals.
