Lily of the Mohawks, Kateri Tekakwitha, was a Native American Catholic convert who lived in the 17th century. She was known for her piety, charity, and her work among the sick and dying. Tekakwitha was baptized in 1676 and took the name Kateri, which means "pure one" in Mohawk. She died in 1680 at the age of 24 and was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012.
