Katrín Jakobsdóttir began her political career in Iceland in 2003, when she was elected to the Althing, Iceland's parliament. She has served as a member of parliament ever since, and has held several cabinet positions, including Minister of Education, Science and Culture, Minister of Social Affairs and Equality, and Minister of Finance. She was first elected Prime Minister of Iceland in 2017, and was re-elected in 2021.
