Khorloogiin Choibalsan was the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Mongolian People's Republic from 1939 until his death in 1952. He was a close ally of Joseph Stalin and helped to implement the Stalinist model of government in Mongolia. He was also responsible for the purges of the Mongolian Communist Party and the execution of many political opponents.
