Konstantinos Karamanlis was born in Serres, Macedonia on March 8, 1907. He was a Greek statesman and one of the most important figures in modern Greek history. Karamanlis served as Prime Minister of Greece three times and as President of Greece twice. He is best known for his role in the restoration of democracy in Greece after the fall of the military junta in 1974.
