Kurt Georg Kiesinger was a German lawyer and politician who served as Chancellor of West Germany from 1966 to 1969. He was a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and was the first Chancellor of West Germany to come from a non-Catholic background. Kiesinger was born in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Württemberg, and studied law at the University of Tübingen. He worked as a lawyer in Stuttgart before entering politics.
