Myrna Loy was a member of the U.S. Commission to UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The commission was established in 1946 to promote international cooperation in education, science, and culture. Loy was appointed to the commission in 1953 and served until 1963. During her time on the commission, she worked to promote the arts and education, and she helped to establish the UNESCO World Heritage List.
