Mercè Rodoreda was a Catalan novelist, poet and painter. After her death in 1983, many of her paintings were discovered, some of which are now exhibited in the Mercè Rodoreda House-Museum in Sant Cugat del Vallès. Her paintings are mostly still lifes, landscapes and portraits, and are characterized by their simplicity and use of muted colors.
