Lucrezia Borgia died in 1519, aged 39. She was the daughter of Pope Alexander VI and Vannozza Cattanei, and was married to Alfonso d'Este, Duke of Ferrara, from 1502 until his death in 1534. Lucrezia was a controversial figure in her own time, and has been portrayed in popular culture as a femme fatale and a poisoner.
