Answer
Lysimachus was a Greek military commander who fought alongside Alexander the Great in his conquests of the Persian Empire. He was later appointed satrap of Thrace by Alexander, and after Alexander's death, he became one of the Diadochi, the generals who fought for control of the empire. Lysimachus eventually conquered Macedonia and Greece, but he was defeated and killed by Seleucus I Nicator in 281 BC.
