Lysimachus was a Macedonian officer and a general under Alexander the Great, who later became a king. He was one of Alexander's closest friends and advisors, and he played a key role in many of his campaigns. After Alexander's death, Lysimachus became one of the Diadochi, or "Successors," who fought for control of Alexander's empire.
