M. Visvesvaraya's initials are MV. He was a civil engineer, statesman, and industrialist who served as the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1919. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of modern Indian engineering and is credited with developing many of the country's early infrastructure projects, including the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam and the Bangalore-Mysore Railway.
