Marsilio Ficino was a Catholic priest who was also a philosopher and a translator. He was born in Florence, Italy, in 1433 and died in the same city in 1499. Ficino was a member of the Platonic Academy, a group of scholars who studied the philosophy of Plato. He is best known for his translations of the works of Plato and other ancient philosophers into Latin.
