James King was born in 1869 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was a Scottish-born Australian politician who was the 25th Premier of Victoria from 1901 to 1902. He was also a member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 1897 to 1906 and the Australian House of Representatives from 1906 to 1917. King was a member of the Liberal Party of Australia and a supporter of Alfred Deakin.
