Trescothick became Somerset captain in 2010, taking over from Justin Langer. He had previously captained England in Test and One Day International cricket, and also led Somerset to the Twenty20 Cup title in 2005. Trescothick's captaincy was successful, with Somerset winning the County Championship title in 2010 and 2012. He retired from playing in 2016, but remains involved with Somerset as a coach.
