The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) was founded in 1880 by theologian and statesman Abraham Kuyper, as a Protestant Christian university. It began with only four faculties, but now offers courses across a wide range of disciplines, including Medicine, Law, Social Sciences, and Humanities.
