After World War II, Piet de Jong transitioned into the role of politician. He served as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 1967 to 1971. De Jong was a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) political party. He was also a member of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands from 1956 to 1967 and a member of the European Parliament from 1973 to 1977.
