"Cheaper by the Dozen" was published in 1948. It is a semi-autobiographical novel by Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey, which recounts their childhood in a family of 12 children. The book was adapted into two films, one in 1950 and a remake in 2003.
