Micheál Martin became the Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) on 27 June 2020. He was nominated by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, after the collapse of the government led by Leo Varadkar. Martin is the leader of Fianna Fáil, the largest party in the Dáil Éireann (Irish parliament). He is the third Taoiseach from Fianna Fáil since the beginning of the 21st century.
