Who succeeded Bertie Ahern and made Micheál Martin the Minister for Foreign Affairs?

  • Brian Cowen

  • Enda Kenny

  • Leo Varadkar

  • Mary McAleese

Answer

Brian Cowen succeeded Bertie Ahern as Taoiseach of Ireland in 2008. He was also the leader of the Fianna Fáil party. He made Micheál Martin the Minister for Foreign Affairs. This was a controversial decision, as Martin had previously been critical of Cowen's leadership. However, Martin proved to be a capable minister and helped to improve Ireland's relations with other countries.
